Hi Dr. Tee

First and foremost let me honest with you. The first time my freinds and I were scouting around what course to sign up for this semester we were not sure what course is this. So, I mailed Hui Wan and asked her. She was all praises for you and also said you are a pro and specialist in this area. On top of that she is also described that distance education is something like what we have in Open University and Wawasan. She encouraged us to take as we will be dwelling and learning something which will be useful for us teachers. Well, with all the recommendation from her, I thought I would give a try and was very impressed with your first class. You made learning very easy and interesting. I liked your movie clip of the Apollo and how you related it to transfer of learning. Very fascinating indeed! I'm looking forward for this course as I really would like to know everything about distance education. I had been an examiner of the Open University two years ago and marked papers but I myself had questioned the validity of the marking scheme.

Your class is really very informative, interesting and eye opener in many ways for me.

  2. First and foremost the exam papers are marked by various teachers or lectures from different specilaization. For example my freind's area of specialization is TESL or Literature but she was given to mark counselling paper and asked to just based on the marking scheme given. However, I was lucky enough because I was asked to mark writing. She has no background knowledge of counselling and just marked following the marking scheme. However, she did refer to a counsellor and referred their module as she didnt want to give the wrong grades to the students. The marking scheme basically follows the module but my question some students had done some extra reading and their answer varies and correct. Do all the examiners will accept the answer?
